Having a blast in New Orleans!

Found this great cafe on Royal Street in the French Quarter, called Cafe Beignet.  Had an espresso and, for the first time, an order of beignets.  Beignets are deep-fried dough loaded with a topping of icing sugar (imagine bannock bread) - reminded me somewhat of the Chinese doughnuts I'm used to having.  They were HOT and delicious!  Very messy!  I kept apologizing to the servers but they just laughed and said that was the norm as there is just NO way to eat these things without a mess happening.  I'm talking about sugar everywhere!  lol

Kent Wong receives a huge Thank You fruit basket!

What a nice surprise!  Save-On Foods delivered a HUGE fruit basket today from Kamloops anesthesiologist Dr. Michael and Mrs. Debbie Kowbel.  The accompanying card said "Thanks so much for your kindness.  Love, Debbie & Michael."
One of Kent's loves is music and high fidelity systems.  With his knowledge, Kent was able to assist Michael and Debbie with their at-home sound system.

Kent Wong receives a fabulous surprise at the front door!

Kent received a huge bouquet of flowers today from a grateful and appreciative Keiko Imaizumi, a wonderful photographic artist living in Vancouver, BC.  At the recent PPOC-BC Image Competition in Richmond, BC in March, Keiko had two of her images accepted with one of them scoring a Merit ("At Land Fill").  "Serenity-Arizona" went on to win the Best in Class Trophy in the Fine Arts class.  These were Keiko's first attempt at image competition.  Prior to the actual judging of the images, Keiko had been seeking Kent's advice on how best to present her images for competition.  His encouragement paid off for Keiko!

Kent Wong enjoys his year as President of Rotary Daybreak

Kent was chosen to be the President of the Daybreak Rotary Club in Kamloops in July, 2010 and has enjoyed leading the 101+ members as the club continues its work in the Kamloops community and on International Service projects. His term ends on June 30, 2011 as Melodie Grabner takes over the podium on July 1, 2011. It's been an incredible year: of camaraderie, of friendship, of community involvement, of knowing that this club has made a difference.
