Kent Wong brings in the Year of the Dragon at Aberdeen Elementary School

Kent explained some basics about Chinese New Year to Mrs. Fortems' kindergarten class at the Aberdeen Elementary School in Kamloops on Monday, January 23, 2012 which marked the start of the Year of the Dragon.  He taught the kids some Chinese phrases: Happy New Year, thank you, very hot, very yummy and careful.  He gave out traditional red packages of money and had the kids say Happy New Year and Thank You in Chinese.  Kent cooked a chow mein dish and filled the school with the wonderful aromas.  All the kids shared in the chow mein!

Kent Wong brings in the Year of the Dragon at Cooper's in Valleyview

Kent was once again demonstrating some Chinese dishes at Cooper's in Valleyview in Kamloops to help bring in the Year of the Dragon (which starts Monday, January 23, 2012).  As noodles are symbolic of longevity, Kent cooked a few chow mein dishes to the delight of the shoppers.  Some shoppers remarked on the size of the cookware Kent was using.  Kent explained that he was using a 9 quart Saladmaster braising pan.  Made of 316 Titanium Surgical Stainless Steel, it's a wonderful kitchen appliance!  If you want the recipe or are interested in hearing more about Saladmaster, feel free to contact Kent.
